Is there anything better than a long hike in cold weather?
I love hiking but I've been a little under the weather lately with covid and a bone spur flare up that screwed up my left shoulder(so not much rucking as of late) but today I was able to get out and hike. I wasn't sure how far I would be able to go but I felt good and ended up hiking 5 miles that took me nearly 2 hours.
Hiking in the dead of winter is so much different than in nice weather. There's just no one out there wanting to freeze their butt off. It was just me, the squirrels, the deer and the birds this morning. It was so nice to just walk and have peace and quiet. With all the craziness going on with life, you tend to forget what it's like to have moments like this. It definitely provided me with time to think about things and clear my mind. It also made me realize I need to get out in nature more often.
If you have a chance, put on some warm clothes and get out there and hike. You won't be disappointed.
